Triplets of the Month: Grace, Agnes and Charlotte

Grace, Agnes and Charlotte

Grace, Agnes and Charlotte

This month we meet triplets Grace, Agnes and Charlotte…
Triplets Names? Grace, Agnes and Charlotte.
Age?  21 months.
Birthday? 13/11/12
Identical or fraternal? Grace and Agnes are identical, Charlotte is fraternal.
Favourite activity? They love going on slides, climbing everywhere and playing in the sandpit.
A bit about Mum & Dad… We met 9 years ago and got married nearly 2 years ago when I was (heavily ) pregnant.
Buggy? Triple ABC buggy up until the girls were just over a year. And now we use the double City Select with the X-rider seat. We had to change as it got too heavy to push. We also also have a triple O’Baby stroller.
Car? Volkswagen Sharan (with sliding doors!!)
Help or not? We had a maternity nurse for 7 weeks when the girls came out of hospital and au-pair afterwards till the girls were one-and-a-half-years. And now I have a part time nanny who helps me two mornings a week.
Quick tip for other twin/triplet mums? Invest in a maternity nurse if you can. It was the best money ever spent.
What advice would you give yourself pre-triplets? Don’t buy too many things before your babies are born as you don’t know how big your babies are going to be when they are born and what you really need.
What advice would you give about sleep training? Again, maternity nurse. Our girls have been sleeping through the night since they were 3 months. And be tough when they start crying ! They are learning and testing you already!
What advice would you give about breast/bottle feeding? I only managed to breast feed for a week when I was in hospital, but I had to give up as I was exhausted. For bottle feeding, plan and measure your formula ahead of time (you can buy some measuring bottles). And prop feeding: we started doing that very early on and it really helped us a lot.
Do you have any advice on weaning? Introduce them to lots of different food early on, so they don’t become fussy. I like the Annabel Karmel weaning book.
Best bargain? Second-hand buggies.
Best thing about having twins/triplets? Seeing them growing up together is amazing. Knowing that they always have two friends to play with.
Funniest thing the twins/triplets have done? When Grace tried dressing herself a few months ago and put on three pairs of jeans – over her pyjamas!
I love Twickenham Twins’ Club because…. The mums were really supportive and helpful when I went to the group. Meeting another local triplet mum: Sandra. And I also like the social events such as the pampering nights.
